Bing is provides nice boost to WordPress sites with new plugin

Whenever anyone mentions Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Google is always included in the conversation, while many people seem to forget about Microsoft’s search engine, Bing.

Bing is now making headlines in the SEO world after releasing a new plugin for WordPress that indexes new content from any website immediately after it’s been published. As long as of course that site has the plugin activated.

The plugin is called “Bing URL Submissions” and can be found here. You can also search for it when trying to add a new plugin on the backend of your WordPress site.

Once you download and activate the plugin you will need to head over to your menu-bar on the left-hand side of your screen and click on “Bing Webmaster.” Once you click that, you will have to enter an API key that you will need to get from Bing. The good news is that the plugin provides a link to where you can get the key.

Once you head over to Bing, via the link, Bing will have you sign in with your Microsoft, Facebook or Google (how ironic) account. Once you’re signed in, you will need to submit a sitemap from your website and verify that you own it, if of course you haven’t done either of these two things in the past.

Once your sitemap is added and your website is verified, you will be able to get the API key that you need for the plugin. You can then go back to your website and paste the key into the plugin and then you’re all set once you hit the button that says “Start Using Plugin.”

Once the plugin is activated you are able to view how many URL’s have been submitted to Bing and how many have failed.

If you need help with setting up this plugin, don’t hesitate to contact me. I’ll be happy to help you.
